Bone cancer. Gross clinical specimen of bone sectioned to reveal an osteosarcoma (upper left). These are among the most malignant of cancers, and are more common in young people. Osteosarcomas usually start in a long bone, often near the knee. They spread rapidly, usually to the lungs. Treatment is removal of part of the affected bone or even amputation of the limb, combined with chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
