Bilateral adrenal haemorrhage. Gross specimen of two adrenal glands that have suffered haemorrhage (bleeding). The adrenal glands are located above each kidney. They are part of the body's endocrine (hormone) system and secrete steroid hormones and adrenaline. Haemorrhaging is most often caused by physical stress or trauma. If not caught early enough it can result in death.
