Sir Bernard Katz (1911-2003), German-Australian- British physiologist and Nobel laureate. Katz was knighted in 1970. Katz shared the 1970 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine with Ulf von Euler and Julius Axelrod. The share of the Nobel was awarded for Katz's discoveries concerning neurotransmitters.
