William Jenner (1815-1898), British physician. Jenner studied medicine in London, where he would live and work. He distinguished typhus and typhoid disease, previously considered to be the disease named continued fever. He was appointed physician to Queen Victoria and her family in 1861, and he attended the Prince Consort during his fatal case of typhoid. He acquired a large fortune from his lucrative practice. He was made a baronet in 1868.
