Henry Dalton (1829-1912), English microscopic artist. Dalton created miniature works of art using materials such as diatoms (tiny planktonic organisms) and individual scales from butterfly's wings. He manipulated these with pincers of spun glass or the eyelashes of pigs. Many of his works had to be magnified around 1000 times to be appreciated.
