Bee on finger. Numbered queen honeybee (Apis mellifera) resting on the tip of a researcher's finger. The bee has been labelled so that it can be recognised during experiments investigating honeybee behaviour, such as their communication and navigation. The queen produces all of the worker and drone bees for a colony. Honeybees are economically important as pollinators of many of the world's crops. Photographed at the University of Wurzburg, Germany.
