The pepper plant seeds (not seen) are contained in the hollow interior (lower centre) of the fruit, surrounded by this fleshy edible wall. Two vascular bundles (round, centre left and right) are seen within the fruit wall. Plant vascular tissue contains the xylem and phloem tissues that transport water and minerals, and nutrients respectively. C. annuum is a rich source of vitamin C.
