Head of a dandelion (Taraxacum) flower after seed formation & at the start of seed dispersal by wind. Each individual seed is attached to a parachute of fine hairs, which is lifted from the composite flower head & carried by the wind to a new location. The fine hairs may attach to the fur of passing animals or human clothing & be carried to a new location.
