Dog rose flower. (4th of 5 images). Close-up of a dog rose (Rosa canina) flower after the petals have fallen. The reproductive organs of the flower can be seen. The male parts, the stamens, consist of the anthers (beige), which are covered in pollen and supported on long filaments. The female parts, the carpels, are in the centre of the bunch of stamens. The dog rose is a common flower of hedges and scrubland, and flowers between June and July. See photos B760/347-351 for sequence of flower opening.
