Scented geranium leaves. View of the leaves of several species of scented geraniums (Pelargonium sp. ). These include lemon geraniums (P. crispum, upper left) and peppermint geraniums (P. tomentosum, centre and upper right). At lower left is a variegated geranium (P. crispum variegatum). These species are often grown in gardens for their aromatic foliage, which releases a powerful fragrance when bruised. In colder areas, they are a popular indoor plant. The leaves are used in a variety of pot pourris, herbal teas, punches and desserts. Oil extracted from the leaves is used in perfumery.
