Daisy fleabane flower. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the central disc of florets of an inflorescence of the daisy fleabane (Erigeron sp.). The florets are the true flowers, each one being a self-contained reproductive structure. The five-fold symmetry is seen where some florets are opening up. This composite floret structure is a characteristic of Asteraceae flowers (Compositae). Magnification unknown.
