Orchid flowers (Coelogyne graminifolia). The tube- shaped structure (tinged with yellow) seen on each flower is a specialised petal called a lip. This attracts pollinators and provides them with a landing platform. This is an epiphytic orchid (one that grows in trees). It is found in the tropical regions of Asia, southwards from China. There are more than 30,000 species of orchids worldwide, many of which are grown as ornamental flowers.
