Orchid flower (Rhyncholaelia digbyana, formerly Brassavola digbyana). The fringed structure that surrounds the central reproductive parts is the lip, a specialised petal that attracts pollinators to the flower. This orchid is found in the lower parts of mountain rainforests in Central America. There are more than 30,000 species of orchids worldwide, many of which are grown as ornamental flowers.
