Assorted seaweeds on the foreshore at Kinloch Hourn in the West Highlands, Scotland. The two main species of seaweed shown are Egg Wrack (Ascophyllum nodosum) and Spiral Wrack (Fucus spiralis). Egg Wrack (black) has long fronds with a single, large air bladders in the centre of the fronds. Spiral Wrack (orange, lower left) has shorter fronds that spiral or twist. As Spiral Wrack matures, the reproductive structures at the tips of the fronds swell up.
