Bracket fungus, sulphur polypore or chicken of the woods (Laetiporus sulphureus) spreading up a tree trunk. Bracket fungi form shelf-like fruiting bodies (here yellow) to spread their reproductive spores. This parasitic fungus is found mainly on oak, as well as other deciduous trees, from spring to autumn. The brackets are edible when young and can reach widths of 40 centimetres.
