Candida albicans occurs on moist mucous membranes of the human body such as skin folds, mouth, upper respiratory & female genital tracts. It is usually harmless, but can become pathogenic in patients suffering malnutrition, diabetes, or undergoing antibiotic treatment. Oral and vaginal conditions are otherwise known as thrush or candidiasis. Candida albicans also causes vulvo- vaginitis, a white discharge from the vagina. Magnification: unknown.
