Scanning electron micrograph of the spherical bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus (gram positive) clustered on agar. These bacteria are commonly found on healthy human skin & mucous membranes, such as the lining of the mouth. They may, however, cause boils, usually by entering through a hair follicle or break in the skin. They are also responsible for internal abscesses & any acute suppurative infection.
