Light micrograph of the spherical bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus (gram positive) scattered on agar. These bacteria are commonly found on healthy human skin & mucous membranes, particularly the mouth. They may, however, cause boils, usually by entering through a hair follicle or break in the skin. They are also responsible for internal abscesses & any acute suppurative infection. They are commonly found in grapelike clusters. Mag: X 420 (at 35mm size).
