Two-dimensional waves of chemical change in a shallow dish containing excited Malonic acid reagant. The picture shows 2 series taken at 1-minute intervals. The circular waves are produced from nuclei of an unknown nature (possibly dust particles). Rings are produced, radiating periodically from their point sources & mutually annihilating when they collide.
