Water droplet on a nasturtium plant (Tropaeoleum majus). Water has accumulated at the base of the dish-shaped leaf, from where the veins (pale green) radiate out from the stem. The droplet acts as a natural lens. Light is refracted (bent) as it passes through the water, and this distorts the image seen. Here, the veins have been slightly magnified by the droplet. Part of a nasturtium flower (orange) is at right.
