Electron tree. Part of an 'electron tree' produced in a block of plastic by a beam of electrons. Electrons bombarded at the plastic penetrate a short distance into the block. If this trapped energy is released by a sharp blow to the block, the electrons shoot out as an electrical discharge leaving a pattern of tracks. The rock- like particles are large chips in the plastic.
