The streak of a comet's tail appears near the Sun, which is blocked by a blue disk in this LASCO C3 coronagraph taken by the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO). The white circle represents the size and position of the Sun. Nearly all of the sungrazers observed by SOHO are members of the same group (the Kreutz group), the remains of a single, parent comet that broke up some centuries ago.
