Iny-8 in Renegade Canyon, in the Coso Mountains of California is one of the most spectacular concentrations of rock art in North America. They are thought to relate to shamans pursuing vision quests, seeking the help of spirits to make rain. The density of glyphs in particular places invites the speculation that the perceived 'power' of a place was cumulative and enhanced by the generations of others who left their layered contributions.
