The San Andreas Fault, where laid bare by the erosive forces of the surf, cleaves a graphic scar in the coast of California in Sonoma County. 'Where the water meets the rock', as it were. The rock shows sedimentary layering, albeit stood on edge from the plain of deposition, a direct demonstration of the tectonic process in action.
