This Almohade style minaret was built by the Moors between 1184 AD and 1197 AD and was 79 meter high. Stones taken ancient Roman architectures were used to build the foundations. The Giralda consists of four outside walls and four inside wall, between which an inclined spiral stairway climbs the structure up to the roof terrace. 2009 photograph.
