Larva of a sphinx moth, a hawk moth, with aposomatic, warning coloration. This caterpillar is distasteful to birds and mammals but is relished by native land iguanas. Pseudosphinx tetrio on Plumeria obtusa. Native to subtropical areas of the New World; habitually feeds on frangipani plants of the genus Plumeria. National Botanical Garden, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
