Costume for Constanze c1913. Constanze, a Spanish lady betrothed to Belmonte, a Spanish nobleman, is held captive by Pasha Selim. 'Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail' ('The Abduction from the Seraglio'), comic opera in three acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), first performed at the Burghtheater, Vienna, July 16 1782. Libretto by Gottlieb Stephanie the younger (1741-1800) after the play by Bretzner. Design for a c1913 production at the Paris Opera.
