Eutelsat communications satellite, artwork. Eutelsat is a French company that operates over 25 satellites in geoeosynchronous orbit. These satellites broadcast thousands of television and radio channels. Areas covered include the whole of Europe, as well as the Middle East, Africa, India and parts of the Americas. A geosynchronous satellite is one that orbits over a particular location on the Earth, moving in the sky north-south each day, but returning to the same point every day. On this satellite, solar panels (blue) provide power. The broadcasting and receiving antennas are also shown.
