Gigantic squid and a ship. Engraving showing a 'gigantic calamary', or squid, caught by a French ship near Tenerife in the Canary Islands. This would probably be a specimen of the Atlantic giant squid, Architeuthis dux, which can grow to over ten metres in length. This engraving was first published in Sea Monsters Unmasked by Henry Lee, printed at London in 1883.
