Woodcut by Zwecker in the Rev. J.G.Wood's 'Natural History of Man' 1870. These unflattering portraits are clearly designed to accentuate the perceived 'primitive' nature of the Fuegians. They are based in large degree on the descriptions of Captain Parker King in the first volume of \The Surveying Voyages of HMS Adventure and Beagle\" (1839), but also on some accounts by Captain Fitzroy of the Beagle and Captain William Parker Snow who was master of the schooner 'Allen Gardiner' on the Patagonian Missionary Societies' 1854 expeditions."
