Cape glossy starling Juvenile cape glossy starling (Lamprotornis nitens) in grass. This starling is found throughout most of southern Africa. It inhabits acacia savannah and riverine bushlands. Like all starlings, it uses its sharp tapering bill to feed on insects and fruit. This starling also feeds on the nectar of aloes. It forms flocks of 6-10 birds that forage in trees or on the ground. Photographed in Spioenkop Nature Reserve, South Africa.
