Giant hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum) flowers. This invasive alien species contains a sap which causes photodermatitis. This is increased sensitivity of the skin to ultra-violet light. Giant hogweed dominates vegetation in marginal habitats and along riverbanks and crowds out native plants.
