Genetically modified maize hybrid. Ear from a maize (corn, Zea mays) plant that has been crossed with eastern gamagrass (Tripsacum dactyloides) to improve its productivity as a crop plant. Eastern gamagrass is a native grass with a gene pool that has a lot of beneficial traits, including resistance to cold and insects, as well as tolerance to drought and flood.
