Clinochlore mineral sample. This is a chlorite mineral, containing magnesium, iron and aluminium in an aluminosilicate lattice. The crystals appear as green to metallic-grey tabular sheets, with hexagonal outline. This sample, from the Tilly Foster mine in Brewster, New York State, USA, is 9 centimetres across.
