Acrocanthosaurus atokensis dinosaur, artwork. This huge carnivorous dinosaur (left) is shown emerging from a stand of conifers (Frenelopsis ramosissima, far left), to stalk a trio of gigantic sauropods (Sauroposeidon proteles, right). The dinosaurs are on a wide flood plain near the eastern coast of the Western Interior Seaway, an extension of the Atlantic that ran through the middle of North America in the Cretaceous. A. atokensis is the state dinosaur of Oklahoma, USA.
