MODEL RELEASED. Crematorium workers loading a coffin into a furnace. The furnaces at crematoriums are designed to completely incinerate human bodies, including bone, and operate at very high temperatures (here, 850 degrees Celsius). Each coffin has a heat-resistant disc (white) to identify the ashes. The workers wear protective clothing designed to protect them from the heat. This clothing includes heat-resistant padded gloves, reflective coats, and mirrored visors. Photographed in the Monumental Cemetery of Turin, Turin, Italy.
