Cinerary urn. This urn is used to store the ashes of a dead body following its cremation. Here, the urn has been placed in a memorial space at a crematorium. The stone covering for this space can then be inscribed with the name and dates of birth and death of the dead person. Some countries permit the ashes to be removed from the crematorium for scattering or burial elsewhere, while others require the ashes to remain at the crematorium in spaces provided for that purpose.
