John Dudeck was an old farmer living alone on a sub-marginal farm in New York State. Roosevelt's farm program was begun during his First Hundred Days with the Agricultural Adjustment Act and Emergency Farm Mortgage Act. However, after four years, the farm crisis of low commodity prices and high farm debt continued. December 1937 photo by Arthur Rothstein.
