In front of each eye the segmented antennae are attached. Both adults & larvae attack wood, forming networks of burrows, but it is the larvae which cause the most damage. Eggs are laid on the surface of dead wood, including beams & rafters, timber, furniture and dead trees, and the larvae hatch out and begin to eat their way inwards. The damage can be extensive without being noticeable; a few holes on the surface reveal little of the network of tunnels inside. Magnification: x90 at 5x7cm size. x300 at 10x8ins
