Wasp spider. Female wasp spider (Argiope bruennichi) on its web. This spider is a species of orb-weaver. It is found in low growing grassland. It hunts flying insects, grasshoppers and crickets. Females can grow up to 15 millimetres in length, but the smaller males only measure 5 millimetres in length. Photographed in Lazio, Italy, in summer.
