These include traditional balances as well as precision balances where a slider scale is used to achieve increased precision. Other equipment includes a barometer (upper left) to measure atmospheric pressure, a waterwheel (lower left) to use the power of flowing water, a seismometer (lower right) to record ground movements in earthquakes, and a compass (above seismometer) to show orientation.
