Watermill, 19th century artwork. Parts of the watermill are shown in cutaway form to demonstrate the internal workings. The waterwheel (lower right) is driven by flowing water from a river, providing the power to grind wheat grains (upper left) into flour (lower left). A system of cogs and gears transfers the power of the waterwheel to the millstone (below grain hopper). The system is managed by a miller (upper left). Engraving from 'Grands Hommes et Grands Faits de l'Industrie' (Great Men and Great Facts of Industry), published in France circa 1880.
