Charles-Edouard Brown-Sequard (1817-1894), French physiologist and neurologist. Brown-Sequard is best known for his work on the adrenal gland. In his experiments on hormonal secretions, he demonstrated the connection between excision of the adrenal glands and Addison's disease. He worked on the spinal cord and discovered Brown-Sequard syndrome. He worked with various hormones, but his claim to have reversed his own ageing by injecting himself with dog testicular extracts is no longer accepted.
