South Pole telescope (white) at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. The Amundsen-Scott Station is an international research station located 250 meters from the South Pole. Physicists are aiming to use this telescope to better their understanding of the evolution of the universe, its composition, and to refine the Big Bang theory.
