Tree Senecios, or Giant Groundsels, and lobelias grow against a backdrop of snow-capped Mount Baker (15,889 feet). This photograph was taken between Bujuku Hut (13,000 feet) and the Scott Elliot Pass (14,350 feet). The Rwenzori Mountain range is the only snow-covered range south of the Atlas Mountains in sub-Sahara Africa. It has a unique afro-montane vegetation due to a combination of altitude, high rainfall and almost constant cloud-cover with drenching mists.
