Portugal, Douro Valley, Pinhao. A farmer looks out onto the Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo estate in the Douro valley in the middle of the grape harvest in September. The monument in the picture represents one of the edges of the area demarcated specifically for Port grapes by the Marque de Pombal in 1756. The area became the first controlled and demarcated winemaking regions in the world.
