The traditional back ornament of Himba women, called eha. They are fashioned from homemade metal studs backed onto leather and come in a variety of patterns. Himba women's bodies gleam from a mixture of red ochre, butterfat and herbs. Their hair is styled in long ochred plaits and is crowned with a headdress made of lambskin, called erembe. The Himba are Herero-speaking Bantu nomads who live in the harsh, dry but starkly beautiful landscape of remote northwest Namibia.
