One of the large animal displays at the extensive site of Twyfelfontein's 5,000 rock engravings or petroglyphs, ranging from simple geometric designs to complex friezes of animals. The lion has graded pecking within its body to portray shape, and pugmarks instead of paws and the tuft to its tail.Twyfelfontein, or 'Doubtful Spring', has a small perennial spring, which from time immemorial would have attracted a large number of wild animals and created an ideal environment for San hunters who left their mark in this sprawling rock-strewn site about seven thousand years ago.
