Mali, Dogon Country, Tereli. Masked dancers wearing the satimbe mask perform at the Dogon village of Tereli. This mask honours the primordial woman who is said to have discovered the original Dogon masks. The mask dance is staged at funeral ceremonies to appease the dead and speed them on their way to the ancestral world.
