Laos, Luang Prabang Province, Luang Prabang. Royal funeral carriage chapel at Wat Xieng Thong, the Golden City Temple. Inside is an impressive 12 metre long funeral carriage and urns for each member of the royal family. The gilt panels on the exterior of the chapel depict semi-erotic episodes from the Ramayana. This magnificent temple complex is the most famous attraction in Luang Prabang and contains some of the most beautiful examples of Lao devotional art. Built by King Saisetthathilat in 1560 on the tip of a peninsula formed by the Mekong and Khan rivers.
